Need the Info

The first step in our planing was to get a copy of Milepost and the Church's Traveler's Guide to Alaskan Camping. Both of these books are invaluable when planing a trip to Alaska. I also found that web sites that cater to RVers can be a great help. I use IRV2 all the time and it is a great source of information about RVs, traveling and camping. Finally I am going to use Microsoft's Map Point 2011 to layout the route.
The blue line on the left shows our planned route from Bellingham Washington to Prince George British Columbia. The line on the right is our planned route from Prince George back into Idaho.

Let the planning begin

Were do I start. In 2006 I was retired and my wife was fed up with working so we decided that we wanted to see more of the country. We had never owned a Motor Home, but we bought one, sold our house in California and hit the road. Since then we have driven about 70K miles visiting most of the USA, eastern Canada and parts of Mexico. The one place we haven't been is to Alaska in the RV so that's what we are doing this summer. We spend part of our time in a house near Sedona, AZ so that is the jumping off point for Alaska. We will be leaving Arizona in May and not getting back until September. In between we will be logging  about 10K miles on the road. This is a no rush trip so we have a route but no dates to be anywhere once we cross from Washington into British Columbia. The plan is to go North through Canada using the Alaskan Highway and come back using the Cassiar Highway. We plan to visit Jasper, Banff and Calgary before coming back into the US via Idaho.

We will be traveling in our 2006 Holiday Rambler Endeavor and towing our Jeep Wrangler. Over the last 3 months we have been working hard to get everything ready. Planning the route, getting the right books and upgrading/repairing things on the Motor Home. The other thing I wanted to do was to set up this Blog so our family, old friends and new friends we make on this trip can follow our progress.
