6/25 Tour Bus through Denali National Park

We knew we wouldn’t have TV access for a lot of this trip so I had recorded a lot of programs on the DVR and we borrowed movies from Danny (son in law) and from our neighbors in Arizona, Judy and Marty. We have watched some of the stuff I had recorded but last night was the 1st time we watched one of the DVD’s we borrowed. It was from Danny’s collection and it was called “Unbreakable”. Stupid Movie, what the hell was anyone thinking when making that movie.

We left the RV at 7am and went over to the visitor center. The tour bus picked us up at 7:20am. We didn’t get back to the center until 3pm, it was a long day. We did get lucky and see lots of animals. We turned the corner and there was a young bull moose on the road in front of us. After that we saw a herd of male caribou, I thank there were about 5 of them. Then we saw a mother moose and her child. Of course the bus driver stops at everything and you have time to take pictures. I charged up my camera last night and ran out this morning without it, luckily Dave had his with us. Where the bus turned around at was a mother grizzly and 2 cubs running along the mountain. We saw more caribou then lots of sheep. There was a grizzly laying down napping in the sun. We then saw a big grizzly running along the creek bed in hunt for something, way up ahead of him was a hiker, maybe that’s what the bear could smell. I think then we saw another grizzly, more sheep, caribou and moose. Like I said we did get to see a lot today. The weather stayed cool and cloudy so we really didn’t get to see Denali.

After returning to the visitor center we got off the bus and went back to the RV. Then Dave remembers he left his coffee cup on the bus, by the time we tracked down the bus it was too late. So tomorrow, before we head out, we can go back to the visitor center and go to their lost and found and hopefully get the cup back or else will just have to buy a new one. It was the travelling mug and he needs one of those for early morning driving.

It was kind of funny after that long day on the bus, if someone yelled sheep everyone is like just keep driving, seen enough sheep. Most of the people on the tour were from Princess Cruises and I’m sure they needed to get back for some meal they were missing.

Tonight we will go to the Ranger talk again, tonight’s is on Birds of Prey.

After last night eating out it’s home cooking tonight. BBQ Pork Chop, Asparagus, Brown Rice and Salad. Sounds good to me. Dinner ran a little late so ate fast then went to the Ranger talk. What a great talk, this Ranger was so entertaining. After a while he broke the groups into 4 different sections and we had to hold up pictures of the “Birds of Prey” and read something on them and then demonstrate their flying pattern. After everyone was done then we all had to do the “RAPTOR RAP!”
