We got in kind of late yesterday afternoon then after setting up we went  over to Matt and Connie's. Since we didn't get any time to visit Dawson Creek we stayed another day in Dawson Creek.
Dave and I got going around 10 am and headed for the visitor center. We got the maps and the list of things to do, of course most of it was "if it wasn't raining" but it wasn't too bad so we started the walking tour. We went to the Alaska Highway House, great place to visit, lots of information about the Alaska Highway. We walked through looking at all the pictures and write ups about the soldiers who worked on the highway. They were showing a 1 hour video about building the road. Very amazing, the road was built right after the start of the 2nd world war, it was started in March 1942 in finished in 8 months. What all these guys went through, and learned along the way. Sounds boring, but it really wasn't. After that we walked through town a little bit and saw all the murals that are painted on the sides of the buildings, really neat to see.
After lunch, at the RV, we went back into town to visit a place to check out our CB, which doesn't seem to be working. They were not use to working with CBs because everybody up here use VHF radios. The tech put together some stuff and did what checks he could. He said thing seem to be working OK. Once we get going again tomorrow, will have to check with people on the road to see if they can hear us.
Tonight Matt and Connie came over to our place, we sat and talked a couple hours, and they are planning on leaving tomorrow too, so we will probably meet up on the road again. We don't have any exact plan for how far we will get tomorrow. The next major town on the road is Fort Nelson it is about 300 miles and that is a little more than we want to drive in one day so we may break it up into two days.
